shao was super nice and her lectures were very enjoyable for me, she would have blank versions of her notes that we could fill in!
she was super accommodating and even gave extra credit after a mess up on the first midterm.

This class was the worst, don't recommend taking this class with her at all. She is very disorganized. Our first midterm, she didn't make enough copies for the entire class and decided to still go through with the exam with only 170 copies when we needed more than 700 copies. Some of us had to write the entire exam on blank sheets of paper; only for her to scratch the entire exam and have a retake that was a million times worse. I think what was worse is that she thought this was all ok when all of us wasted two hours of our lives in a small room taking a midterm that would end up in the trash. She would constantly change the syllabus and course grading, especially for exams.

Difficult class overall plus the midterm fiasco.

Shao lectures fast. She was good at explaining concepts, though there is a lot of material for this class, so it felt like I was racing to write down what she said. The midterms were difficult (coupled with an error in the amount of copies for midterm 1), but she tried her best to fix the issue as best as she could. She was extremely generous with extra credit for us. The final was far easier, and the average course grade was an A-, which is good for ochem.

Everyone was upset by the midterm situation, but it wasn't the professor's fault, it was the Printing Center's. As far as how lectures were presented, her slides were very clear and organized. She was always helpful during office hours and cared about the students. She doesn't deserve to be ranked based on a situation out of her control. Great professor.

Pham is a great professor, but do not fall behind in this class as it will come back to haunt you. lots of extra credit and if you keep up it can be a lot of fun!

The Klein Textbook is such a lifesaver for 14C.

overall difficult class with unexpected challenges that came up from logistical issues. midterms were very hard but she made the final much easier (maybe to compensate) and curved quite a bit.

It's organic chemistry. No easy way around it, as long as you put in the work you can succeed in this class. Doing practice problems really helped, as well as attending office hours. Had a few hiccups regarding the midterm, but I believe it was handled adequately by Prof. Shao. She is very prepared in her lectures, and always makes sure to finish material.
