Unprepared, tests were unnecessarily hard and contained blurry pictures. Ochem is hard enough try to take another professor!
It feels like you are learning a lot from the lectures but when you go to review there are a lot of missing pieces. You can get through the class with a decent grade but you may need to put in some extra time.

The previous reviews on Dr. Ow do not him do justice. He's a great professor who explains concepts in a clear and engaging manner. There simply is just a lot to cover in the quarter, which requires him to move at a fast pace. He's always helping out through email and Canvas discussion and has ample office hours. A few of the lowest scores in homework and quizzes are dropped to provide leeway, and homework assignments can be retaken an unlimited amount of times, with the highest score being kept. Quizzes are almost every week (except midterm/final weeks) and are over the weekend on Canvas. They're not too difficult and it's definitely possible to get 100% in the category, especially since the lowest 2 scores are dropped. Discussions are mandatory and you work in groups to complete a worksheet, but one is allowed to be made up. The midterm exams are during lecture periods on Wednesdays and were relatively fair with averages being 75% and 83%. The average of the final was around 82% as well. The best way to study for the midterms and final is to review the concepts on the study guide he provides, go over lecture slides, look over past discussion worksheets, homework, and quizzes, as well as do the practice exams and the extra problems. One thing to watch out for is that many of the extra problems are beyond the scope of the class yet Dr. Ow still includes them in the recommended problem list which is quite annoying at times. However, if you are ever unsure if you need to know something, you can always ask him and he'll let you know if you need to know it or not. Overall, I definitely recommend taking this class with Dr. Ow!
He was a very good lecturer and was very fair with grading. He was also really available for office hours.
i had dr. oh for this class and he was really good at explaining all the concepts! chem 14c is definitely a struggle but you can definitely do well if you put in the work
Do the extra problem sets he provides! These helped me secure an A+ in the course.
Reading the textbook is not necessary.
The professor was very kind and offered extra credit however the course material was hard.
This has been one of my favorite classes at UCLA. Professor Ow is amazing. He is super clear and just an overall very engaging lecturer. He is obviously very knowledgeable about the topics and he tells you exactly what to do word-for-word in order to succeed in his class. He gives you all the materials you need and all he asks is you just study the way he tells you and you will do well. Very good intro to organic chemistry.
The content of organic chemistry intimidates a lot of people, and Dr. Ow's bruinwalk reviews were brutal, so I was terrified coming into the class. Dr. Ow was a great lecturer, though, and his exams were extremely fair. Mandatory discussion wasn't bad because my TA went over the worksheet at the end of every class and the LA's were extremely supportive by circulating the classroom and checking on our understanding. Big piece of advice to succeed in this class is practice problems and relying on outside sources to understand more difficult topics!
it's a difficult class but if you stay on top of the practice problems it's definitely doable
