The final is an unconventional style (data report, not a test).
I loved taking this class with Prof Stigler. I thought he really formatted the class well but I also did take it online. He basically runs through different code with you in the Jupyter Notebooks during lecture and then you complete assignments in the textbook as homework. There's also this one project where you analyze your own data which wasn't too bad
This class was basically a learn at your own pace class for me since most of the material was on CourseKata. Both the midterm and the final are super manageable as well. I think having good TAs helped too – I had Riley and Icy as my TAs and they were super helpful!
The midterm and final were really straightforward if you read the textbook thoroughly.
All that's needed for this class is the textbook, where all the homework is done, and lab attendance. One of the easiest and most lowkey classes I've taken, Professor Stigler is very kind and accommodating toward students.
I took it during the summer and I think lectures were organized. Exams are like the homework
This class was very chill, and tests were quite easy.
Never went to class, extremely easy A. If you have taken stats in the past, this is not any new material except for using a little R, but even for that he gives a cheat sheet on exams that you don't even really need. Lectures not very useful for me, and discussion/lab was mandatory and boring but helpful for some.
OK 100a is the weirdest class ever bc everyone I've talked to has had a different experience based on quarter. In this class lecture time was spent going through Jupyter notebooks that the professor talked through on screen. Homework was completing an online textbook which I didn't find helpful at all because it doesn't tell you the answer if you get it wrong and is graded on completion, which left me and everyone else just randomly inputting answers to quickly finish the homework. "Lab" section was required and it was just everyone sitting together in a lecture hall. Lab was super dumb (cutting up papers, recording your partner cutting up papers, etc) and not really helpful to learning the material. Exams were also on Jupyter notebook and pretty easy
Lecture optional, but concepts are easier to grasp if you go. Many extra credit opportunities.
