Fantastic professor, she made an intimidating class like 115A very manageable and interesting. She's incredibly organized, has clear lectures that are actually worth going to (unlike most 115A professors here), and puts in a ridiculous amount of effort - she wrote multiple full-length practice exams, with worked solutions, for both midterms and the final. If you did those practice exams and went to class, you should understand everything and get an A no problem. And if you're ever confused, go to her office hours where she's more than happy to explain things to you.
Great professor, especially considering the fact that this is her first time teaching at UCLA (during a pandemic in a very robust hybrid format nonetheless). I looked forward to going to each lecture since they were very clear and well-paced. The exams were very fair (averages ~60%, 70%, then a whopping 97%) and it seems like everyone in the class genuinely enjoyed learning the material. Overall, Professor Opie did a great job of teaching linear algebra and strengthening our proof-writing and mathematical skills.
Professor Opie is an angel and I would die for her any second and I stand by it. This class was truly incredible for my first proof based math class. She is extremely organized, her notes are clear and legible, and she goes above and beyond to make sure her students understand the concepts. She holds regular office hours and records them as well. The exams were super fair and if you did the homework and took notes during lectures, you'd do well. She also held office hours during the exam time and she tried to give hints for tricky questions. I have never loved math more. I hope she gets to teach more classes at UCLA.
