LING 20 with Professor Poole was great. He's a very organized instructor and has great slides and handouts. Lectures mainly go over the slides, but Prof. Poole also does additional examples in class. Discussions are optional, but do even more examples. Homeworks and tests are very fair and straightforward. They're not too difficult if you pay attention to examples from lectures/discussion. The material itself is a sampling of a variety of topics in Ling: phonetics, morphology, syntax, semantics. No required textbook. Overall, a cool class!
I really enjoyed this class with Professor Poole. Lectures were clear with a lot of helpful examples. The exams were not too difficult (especially when taken open note during remote-learning). I would even go as far to say the midterm was fun to take, which I have never said about an exam before.
