It is super helpful to go to the discussions even though they aren’t mandatory because your TA goes more in depth on the material of the week and helps you understand the homework for the next week!
Loved this class! Although Ling isn't a forte of mine Stefan's presentations and explanations in lecture made the content really straightforward and easy to understand. The homework was difficult at times but you could definitely complete it by going through lecture notes, and the TAs are also incredibly kind and helpful. Lab attendance was not required (thank god bc I had an 8am) but you just do more practice and applications that are really helpful when it comes to reviewing for the exams.
I thought the information was very interesting, but I was not prepared for the tests since most Ling 20 classes have no exams. I did not receive the grade I expected.
You could have a cheat sheet on the exams so honestly, even if you don't STUDY study, as long as you write all the material down on the sheet, you should pass. Definitely one of the easiest class by far. Can def be taken with 3 other classes and you will be just fine.
great prof very passionate about linguistics pacing of the class wasn't too fast, tests were like the homeworks
Very easy class and very little work, super fun to do the hw!
Easy and interesting class! It was simple and clear what was expected of you.
I loved Professor Kiene, he's so cheerful and genuinely cares about his students. Midterm was a little harder than I expected but he offers an extra credit question on every exam. Discussions were not mandatory, so I would recommend going into office hours instead to get full points on homework.
