Reviews
definitely do launchpad, take good notes, and study well in advance for the midterms and final. Also, go to the CLC sessions because their practice questions are VERY representative of the exams questions
Amazing professor who clearly cares about student learning and success.
great professor, very enigmatic and engaging
There is a lot of group work and collaboration with peers.
The instructors all collaborate and teach the same material at the same time and have the same exam, which is nice if you have a friend in another lecture. There's a lot of group work in "pods", and also a lot of help outside of class in structured learning sessions with TAs. Overall, not too hard but definitely the textbook is helpful
It was doable class, just a bit of work.
Attendance is mandatory because of iClicker. Tests are online.
Professor Pham's lectures were well-structured and organized. However, his explanations for the iClicker questions were not always the most clear. Reviewing iClicker questions, the weekly reading-based questions (PCRQs) and practice assessment of learning (PALs), and attending problem-solving sessions were the most helpful in preparing for the midterms/finals. While the textbook and reading guides provide a solid baseline understanding of the content, they are not very helpful in reviewing for exams. Grading was fair with ample padding through homework/extra credit assignments.
Pham is excellent, I recommend him. HIs accent is understandable, and is is very good at explaining the concepts during office hour.
Pham is an amazing teacher and he is understanding and a great lecturer. The tests are a bit hard but studying the lectures and going to class will help you do a great job on the tests. There are also a ton of extra credit opportunities in this class. I think its easy and possible to get an A in this class.
