I had a flipped classroom so that elevated the stress of getting a high percentage on the exams. I did extremely well on midterm 1 and final but totally bombed the second midterm. Overall if you do all the core activities and literally ALL of the extra credit activities you can also get an A in this flipped classroom.
Easy class, exams were a bit tricky but not impossible. Textbook was helpful and quiz questions were useful for prepping for tests. Labs were okay and gives a chance to interact with peers.
This class was easy and interesting. Maloy and Braybrook are both organized and experts in the areas they teach.
I took this class when the grading scheme was either A or fail, so anything above a passing grade was an A. This changed a lot about the format of the course but nonetheless there are weekly pre-class assignments as this is a flipped classroom. I don't love this format but it is the entire 7 series so there isn't much you can do except adapt. Tests can be hard but if you do practice problems you will be fine.
-super nice
- group work matters for discussion
- the midterms are hard but try to go to problem solving session
This class was pretty tough because they use the "flipped classroom" method. It's heavy on busy work, for example, you have to complete assignments before every lecture, take a practice exam every week, and so on. Maloy and Dr. B are the BEST!
Professor Maloy and Professor Braybrook are both incredible professors who have a really strong grasp on what they teach and give really engaging and interesting lectures. This class is a lot of work but it is definitely manageable, and it helps to have knowledge from AP Bio coming in. If you get the chance, take this class with Maloy and Braybrook, they're two of the best professors here.
The course is homework heavy with three weekly due dates and several assignments due those dates. The reading guides although short require you read through a substantial amount of pages at times in order to complete them. There are group midterms that account for half of your midterm score and these group midterms on average take 2-3 hours to complete.
Review PEQs, they're the most helpful part for exams! Take part in the out-of-class office hours since it's a great way to connect with professors and meet friends.
Pretty much a review from AP Biology if you took that in high school
